Dear Colleagues,
You may be aware of the ICORE computing conference rankings, now managed by a partnership between CORE (the peak body for Australasian Computer Science academics), GII (Group of Italian Professors of Computer Engineering), GRIN (Group of Italian Professors of Computer Science) and SCIE (the Spanish Computer Science Society). The rankings can be found at portal.core.edu.au/conf-ranks. Conferences are ranked as A*, A, B, C or a number of unranked tags. Descriptions of these ranks can be found on the CORE website at https://www.core.edu.au/conference-portal.
Periodically we invite submissions from the community to ensure these rankings are kept up to date. Submissions contain a substantial amount of information, which is then reviewed by expert committees in different computing research areas (“area committees”), in order to recommend ranks for the next 3 year period. The next submission round is planned to begin in May 2025.
We are seeking expressions of interest from people who would be willing to serve on these area committees. We are looking for respected, fairly senior researchers who publish regularly in CORE A and A* conferences, and have a broad understanding of a variety of research approaches and communities, across the range of topics covered by an area committee (see the list of area committees). The main effort required from committee members is expected to be from about August until November 2025. Based on feedback from previous rounds the time commitment is likely to be about 15-30 hours, although this is highly dependent on the number of submissions in an area. The review process will use EasyChair with which many of you will be familiar. We are keen to involve additional international researchers as well as those based in Australasia, Italy and Spain.
If you would be willing to volunteer please fill in the Expression of Interest form [2], preferably before the end of 2024, though we will keep the form open until the end of January 2025. Please also distribute this notice to others who may be willing to volunteer. We aim to select committees of approximately 6 people, balancing a variety of factors including research focus, gender and location.
